Our Portable Box Joint Jig works by hop-scotching the jig over the work, instead of like our standard 4555 Box Joint Jig where the work hop-scotches over the jig. This allows you to safely and accurately cut larger box joints on large workpieces that are too cumbersome or dangerous to do any other way.

This product cuts any size box joint between 1/2" to 1-9/16" in stock up to 2" thick, minimum 1/2" joint depth and unlimited stock width. Includes both stationary and adjustable aluminum stops which are infinitely adjustable between 1/2" to 1-9/16" wide joints, minimum 1/2" deep. These index the jig accurately for each cut and prevent side-to-side jig movement. Includes a two piece set of replaceable MDF Sub-fences, a 12" Ultra Track aluminum fence, two built-in clamps and includes five Setup Jigs for 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/4" & 1-1/2" joints.

Requires a 1/2" shank router (not supplied) as well as a 3/4" bushing and a 1/2" router bit, both sold separately. Our 5032K 3/4" brass bushing & locknut fits most routers that accept a Porter Cable style bushing. If using your own bushing, make sure the nose isn't over 3/8" long. Any 1/2" cutting diameter bit with a 1/2" shank will work, but we recommend a spiral upcut bit for best results. We offer solid carbide spiral upcut bits in various cut lengths (PN 15407 - 1" cut length, PN 15409 - 1/1/2" cut length & PN 15410 - 2" cut length), all with 1/2" shanks. Always select the shortest cut length possible. For best results, incremental passes are recommended.

Work piece is clamped vertically in a vise and the Portable Box Joint Jig hop-scotches over each cut, indexing its aluminum stops in the previous cut. You'll need to supply a 6" clamp for use when making the first and last few cuts on the part that are out of range of the built-in clamps. See video on our website.

I had excellent results with this box joint jig. It takes just a bit of adjustment on the front end but once it was set up it worked great. Very accurate! Well designed!

I had been looking for a box joint jig for quite a while, even tothe point of making my own. Discovered this one by Woodhaven purely by accident and decided to give it a try as I like the price point compared to others and wanted one that wasn't going to require a router table as I do a lot of work on longer boards.

Set up was a bit tricky for me, but once I figured things out it went smoothly. The jig works exceptionally well and I was able to knock out the box joints for my tool chest in about an hour. While getting set up can take a bit of time, once you have things locked in it goes quite smoothly. I liek the fact it has it's own clamps, and the construction is very solid.
